Job Duties
The Department of Economics and Business at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) invites applications for faculty position starting August 2022. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and have a desire to join an interdisciplinary department. They will be required to teach Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting; they will also have the opportunity to teach related elective courses. Electives can reflect the candidate’s interests and expertise, in addition to those already listed in the VMI catalogue.
The successful candidate must have excellent teaching and communication skills. Candidates may apply for any position(s) for which they are qualified and should indicate in their application letter in which positions they are interested. The following are the requirements and responsibilities associated with the position:
Lecturer/Instructor (Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track)
Responsibilities: Teach Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, with the possibility of upper-level accounting elective courses. To be eligible for a one year, full-time position with benefits, the candidate must be willing to teach a full-time 4-4 teaching load (4 classes each semester) plus engage in related professional activities. The position is renewable at the discretion of the Institute.
Minimum Qualifications
Requirements: Candidates must have a master’s degree in accounting, business administration (MBA), or a closely related field with professional certification and at least five years of work experience in the field.
