Department: Emergency Medicine
• Lead clinical informatics initiatives within the Emergency Medicine department
• Collaborate with IT teams to optimize electronic health record systems and clinical decision support tools
• Analyze clinical data to improve patient care workflows and safety outcomes
• Provide clinical expertise for technology implementation and system upgrades
• Train and support clinical staff on informatics tools and best practices
• Conduct research in emergency medicine informatics and participate in scholarly activities
• Serve as liaison between clinical teams and technology departments
• Develop and maintain clinical protocols integrated with digital systems
Required Qualifications:
• MD degree with residency training in Emergency Medicine
• Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine
• Active medical license eligible for Virginia licensure
• Clinical informatics fellowship training or equivalent experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
• Board certification in Clinical Informatics
• Experience with Epic or similar EHR systems
• Research experience in healthcare informatics
• Project management experience
• Advanced degree in informatics, health administration, or related field
• Teaching and mentoring experience
