Job Description:


Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates In transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrolment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes is available at the college as well.

Camp is seeking a qualified individual to teach EMS courses.In collaboration with the Program Director, design and delivery of objective-driven instruction for day, evening, and/or weekend EMS class sessions in accordance with program and VCCS guidelines, national and state EMS educational standards, and accrediting body regulations. Responsible for regular student assessment in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. Maintains appropriate documentation of student assessment outcomes and counsel students regularly regarding their performance. Maintains adequate on-campus presence and availability to meet with students for additional help as needed. Provides timely communication with students, staff, and college administration. Evaluates student readiness for national certification and/or licensure exams. Assists with departmental and college events and projects as assigned. Instruction to occur at on campus and satellite locations.

This is a restricted, full-time, nine-month teaching position.
Minimum Qualifications:

-Holds an Associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
-Virginia certification at the Paramedic level. (Consideration will be given for a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT paramedic).
-Three (3) years’ experience as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider.
-Demonstrates a passion for the discipline and a commitment to a student-centered philosophy in support of academic excellence for diverse groups of learners.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on engaging presentation style and creative classroom management using a variety of educational models.
-Ability to implement current technology in the instructional process.
-Experience and/or strong interest in teaching and inspiring adult learners to fulfill the College’s mission to change lives and empower students to succeed.
-Excellent leadership skills. Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators as an individual or as a part of a team.
-Demonstrated ability to measure, assess and align student outcomes within courses or programs.
-Ability to modify when appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
-Ability to plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize documented student learning.
-Ability to develop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress in a diverse group of students in an equitable way toward student learning outcomes.
-Ability to evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and to provide student feedback promptly to promote optimal learning.
-Ability to maintain detailed, accurate records of student progress and submit reports according to established deadlines.
-Ability to work at all campus locations (Franklin, Suffolk, and Smithfield).
Additional Considerations:

-Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
-Current certification as a Virginia Education Coordinator.
-Current certification as an instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Emergent Pediatric Certification (EPC), Pediatric Health Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)/ Intermediate Trauma Life Support (ITLS), and Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS).
-Previous instructional experience in a CoAEMSP accredited EMS program.
-Experience with curriculum development.
-Community college teaching experience or equivalent teaching experience.
-Certified Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Instructor
-Teaching experience in online, hybrid, and/or traditional course delivery.
