The University of Virginia is searching for collaborative and dynamic candidates for an Employee Relations (ER) Associate or Consultant position. ER Associates and Consultants are strategic, consultative partners with the School of Medicine and Health System. The position will be filled at the Employee Relations Associate or Consultant level, depending on qualifications and experience.
As an integral member of the Employee Relations Team, ER team members report directly to the Manager of Employee Relations. This role serves as a subject matter expert in the area of employee relations and the primary focus of this position is to:
Investigate employee matters and concerns
Conduct formal investigations into allegations of employee misconducts
Oversee the grievance process
Partner with key stakeholders to deliver appropriate employee resources
Provide advice and counsel to HR professionals and managers on workplace issues regarding policy interpretation and application
Conduct and oversee the progressive disciplinary process that includes informal levels of counseling, formal discipline and the grievance procedure process.
The ability to work effectively and autonomously with all levels within the organization, and maintain flexibility and adaptability is essential. The incumbent must be able to manage multiple projects and tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, time management, and facilitation skills are a must. A knowledge of relevant state and federal employment laws and governmental compliance requirements related to HR management and employment functions is essential. Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
For the ER Associate: a High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree Preferred. Two years relevant experience.
For the ER Consultant: A High School Diploma or equivalent, and at least four years' of relevant experience is required; a Bachelor's degree and at least four years of relevant HR experience or a Master's degree with one year of relevant HR experience is preferred.

The anticipated hiring range for this role is will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is an exempt-level, benefited position.
