Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Aviation is seeking a civil engineer to review and approve all aspects of capital, maintenance, security and facilities projects for public-use airports. Responsibilities include conducting construction, maintenance, security, facility, and other airport inspections for approximately 16 of the 66 public-use airports in the Commonwealth. Additional duties include responding to airport project requests and coordination with airport managers and sponsors, consultants, and private contractors; review and approve construction plans and specifications, engineering agreements and contract documents; conduct obstruction surveys; and manage grant-in-aid programs. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in developing, interpreting and reviewing construction documents. Experience conducting on-site construction field inspections. Knowledge of construction techniques and methods. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience conducting surveys and managing grant-in-aid programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel); B.S. in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
