Hiring Range: Salary range: $48,263 - $119,630. Maximum hiring salary: $68,000. Salary commensurate with the education and experience of the applicant.
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The primary responsibility is to teach courses in two or more areas of English Composition I & II and Literature. Faculty loads require a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester. Office hours, advising, and other institutional commitments on campus are required. Teaching assignments may include a variety of modes, including: on-campus, Zoom, Hyflex, and, asynchronous. Based upon the needs of the College, teaching assignments may also include day and/or evening classes at multiple on-and-off campus locations, to include dual enrollment courses in high school settings. Opportunities for summer teaching will be based on student interest.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in English, or a Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
The equivalent of at least two years, full-time post-secondary teaching experience in English. Demonstrated community college teaching experience. Demonstrated ability to teach developmental or co-requisite English courses. Documented training in and/or experience offering consultation in a formal writing center or writing studio. Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology routinely into instructional and faculty responsibilities, including use of the Canvas (LMS) Learning Management System for online learning development/teaching. Documented training in and experience teaching various modes, including via Zoom. Substantial evidence of involvement in College-related activities beyond the classroom, including: holding office hours, advising, and institutional commitment (e.g., service on committee, leading specific initiatives, etc.). Experience with discipline scheduling maintenance and staffing. Experience with conducting classroom observations. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion. Demonstrated ability to use a personal computer and current Microsoft Office programs.
