Job Description:
The Faculty Credentialing and Compensation Specialist ensures compliance with DHRM, VCCS, and NOVA policies, as well as SACSCOC accreditation standards, in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of faculty. This role evaluates faculty qualifications and rank eligibility, processes compensation-related requests, and collaborates with divisions to ensure efficient and effective credentialing and compensation processes.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Evaluate faculty credentials to determine teaching qualifications and rank eligibility.
  • Ensure compliance with state, system, and accreditation policies related to faculty hiring and retention.
  • Review and process faculty compensation requests, including overloads, workload exceptions, reassigned time, and additional compensation.
  • Manage faculty promotion reviews and multi-year appointment recommendations.
  • Regularly assess and recommend improvements to business processes for credentialing and compensation.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with academic divisions to address faculty hiring and compensation needs.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in faculty compensation data and documentation.
  • Provide guidance and support to division personnel on credentialing and compensation policies.
  • Assist with audits, reports, and compliance reviews related to faculty credentialing and compensation.
Minimum Qualifications:

KSA's:
  • Knowledge of DHRM, VCCS, and NOVA human resource policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of SACSCOC accreditation requirements and guidelines related to faculty credentialing and compensation.
  • Knowledge of principles and best practices in recruitment, selection, and retention of employees.
  • Familiarity with customer service principles, including needs assessment, service quality standards, and customer satisfaction evaluation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and convey policies and procedures effectively.
  • Active listening skills, including the ability to fully engage in discussions, consider multiple perspectives, and ask appropriate questions.
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate situations, identify alternative solutions, and implement appropriate courses of action.
  • Effective decision-making skills, weighing the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to determine the best approach.
  • Ability to clearly communicate information and concepts in ways that are easily understood by diverse audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, recognizing potential issues and proactively addressing them.
  • Capacity to analyze and recommend improvements to existing procedures and processes.
  • Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in compiling, categorizing, calculating, auditing, and verifying HR-related information and data.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to interruptions while maintaining productivity and focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive personnel matters.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in a relevant field, such as human resources or higher education administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
  • Experience with files and record management, with a strong emphasis on maintaining confidentiality of personnel information.
  • Experience with compiling and reporting data and ensuring data accuracy.

  • Prior experience evaluating faculty qualifications.
  • Prior experience in an academic setting.
  • Experience managing and analyzing compensation data, including salary surveys and market analysis.
  • Experience working in an HR office setting.
