Chief Purpose of this position:
VCU School of Nursing is seeking an open rank, 12month term faculty member who serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Faculty hired into this position will teach in undergraduate and graduate courses; contribute to curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; coordinate clinical sections; develops preceptors and appropriate clinical sites, clinically supervise students in graduate practica; participate in school governance activities; and implement all roles of term faculty (teaching, scholarship, practice, and service).
This position will be primarily based in the Southside Virginia region, although periodic travel is expected to the MCV campus in Richmond, Virginia and other rural sites as needed.
Term (nontenure seeking) faculty appointment. Rank, and salary are dependent on demonstrated scholarly achievement, certifications, and teaching experience.
Position Responsibilities:
Demonstrates commitment to contributing to VCU’s strategic plan Quest 2028 ( https://quest.vcu.edu/ )
Engages faculty, students, and staff to foster a diverse community at VCU
Participates in all aspects of the school’s education mission including teaching (in classroom and clinical settings), curriculum development, evaluation, and coordination of clinical education in select rural settings
Participates in clinical practice with the VCU School of Nursing faculty practice plan
Engages in professional service to the school of nursing, university, profession, and community
Maintains scholarly contributions consistent with academic appointment and rank. Term faculty maintain ongoing scholarly contributions to their field such as translation of evidence to practice, presentations, or publications
Required Qualifications:
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Virginia
Family Nurse Practitioner certification
Graduate degree in nursing
Current or recent clinical practice experience
Documented effectiveness in collaboration and communication
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree (PhD or DNP ) in nursing or related field
Experience in higher education including teaching, simulation instruction, accreditation, program review or assessment
Record of accomplishments in scholarship and professional service
