The University of Virginia's Housing & Residence Life (HRL) seeks a candidate for a Finance Generalist. This role will report to the Assistant Director/Director of Finance and be responsible for performing the day-to-day financial functions of the department and preparing regular reports on compliance with financial requirements and for consumption by management.
A successful candidate will be expected to perform a number of transactions as they relate to the finances of Housing & Residence Life.Some of these responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assigning costing allocations
Creating payroll accounting adjustments
Creating and processing accounting journals
Adjusting expenses incurred through supplier invoice requests and expense reports
Creating expense reports as well as assisting others in doing so
Processing checks and credit card transactions
Billing internal University customers via Internal Service Delivery.
In addition to the above transactional responsibilities, it is expected that the successful candidate will become knowledgeable in the accounting structure and financial procedures of the University.This will allow the individual to become an asset to not only HRL but to the University as a whole. This is an entry-level, exempt, full-time benefited position. HRL prides itself on developing its staff and individuals who are rise to these expectations of the position can anticipate opportunities for training an advancement of a career in financial administration at the University.The anticipated hiring range for this position is $50,000-$60,000 commensurate with education and experience. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree. Experience: At least two years of experience in accounting, finance, business, or academic administration. E quivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree (six or more years of relevant experience).
