Housed in the Enrollment division, this newly created position will strengthen the University of Virginia’s service to the Commonwealth and commitment to access. Reporting to the Senior Transfer Counselor and in collaboration with the Associate Director for Undergraduate Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Outreach Coordinator will facilitate and strengthen the transfer pathway for Virginia Community College students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, to transition to UVA. The coordinator will develop relationships with Virginia Community College System (VCCS) institutions and colleagues in order to implement financial aid information events and provide individual ized student support . Events and student meetings will tak e place both in-person , at VCCS campuses, and virtually. The outreach coordinator will play a pivotal role in assisting VCCS students who wish to transfer to UVA .
The Enrollment division at UVA includes the Office of Undergraduate Admission, the Office of the University Registrar, Student Financial Services, and Commonwealth Partnership s. The Financial Aid Outreach Coordinator will join engaged, innovative colleagues working collaboratively to compete for talented students from all walks of life and to care for students from their first interaction with the University through Final Exercises and beyond.
The ideal candidate will:
Have e xperience in student advising, particularly with transfer students and/or in a community college setting
Knowledge of financial aid , FAFSA, CSS profile , Virginia Alternative State Application (VASA) and other state and institutional financial aid award programs
Demonstrate superior organizational and communications skills
Enjoy designing and presenting information sessions
Collaborate effectively with colleagues in multiple geographic locations
Think creatively about inclusive and accessible ways to reach and support students
Respectfully and effectively communicate and engage with individuals from diverse and varying backgrounds
Responsibilities:
Transfer Financial Aid Advising : Provide individualized financial aid support to VCCS students throughout their transfer process , including assistance with the FAFSA, VASA, and CSS profile.
Outreach and Relationship Building : Foster positive, mutually beneficial relationships with VCCS students, faculty, and staff to ensure sustained collaboration and support.
Collaborative Leadership : Partner with VCCS colleagues to promote the success of campus visits and planned events.
Student Engagement: Develop and implement engaging and informative sessions and events.
Enrollment Collaboration : Contribute to the development and implementation of a financial aid outreach plan for Virginia Community College prospective and matriculating transfer students.
Data Analysis and Reporting : Monitor and report on impact of outreach efforts , including transfer application and admission rates, while identifying areas for improvement.
This position is hybrid and includes regular travel to VCCS campus locations and to UVA , as well as r emote wor k .
The position will remain open until filled, with a target start date in December 2024. Review of applications begins October 25 th , 2024.
This is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Grant funding is currently secured through June 2028. Anticipated Hiring Range: $ 55 ,000 - $63,000 commensurate with education, experience, and demonstrated past performance. Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree required. Additional experience will be required in lieu of a degree. Experience: Two years of experience required with a Bachelor's degree. Six years of experience required with a High School degree or equivalent. A n Associates degree and 4 years of experience.
