The University of Virginia, Office of the Provost is recruiting for a Finance Coordinator. The Executive Vice President and Provost of the University is charged by the Board of Visitors and the President with overseeing education, research, and public service in the schools of the University, in the University's libraries and museums, and in numerous other academically related units.

The incumbent in this position will represent the provost's office within the University community. The Finance Coordinator will be responsible for reviewing, monitoring, and analyzing accounts in the University's financial and budget systems, reconciling transactions, and reporting on the results. This position prepares and oversees the preparation of purchase orders and payment vouchers. In addition, the position is responsible for supporting individuals who manage budgets and process journal entries. The Finance Coordinator will be well versed in all UVa financial/procurement applications and policies and provide assistance to affiliated units as needed. Additionally, the finance coordinator will be an early adopter of new and improved tools to enhance or streamline financial operations, reporting, and analysis responsibilities.

The incumbent will possess the following knowledge: excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to perform data analysis; advanced computer skills, including a mastery of Microsoft Office 365; strong communication skills (both written and verbal). In addition, a high degree of professionalism and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues with tact and discretion is required.

Specific duties Include:
  • Analyze fund accounts, special projects, revenue, and expense categories to ensure appropriate entries are made and monitor the account balances.
  • Subject matter expert for Workday expense reports, marketplace, supplier invoice, and purchasing card transactions.
  • Perform necessary corrections and adjustments in the financial system.
  • Maintain financial records for department funds, following University and departmental policies and procedures, and maintain all documentation and records to meet audit requirements.
  • Provide reports and analysis in support of administrative and operating activities.
  • Serve as a department representative in pan-institutional finance initiatives or committees.
  • Attend standing meetings and training sessions as needed to keep apprised of changes in policy and procedures.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, equivalent experience accepted in lieu of a degree and at least two years of experience.

The anticipated start date is February 27, 2023. Anticipated Hiring Range: 60,000 - 70,000 commensurate with education and experience. This is an Exempt level, benefited position. For more information on the benefits at UVA, visit hr.virginia.edu/benefits.

This position is based in Charlottesville, VA. Depending on the work being performed and the incumbent’s performance, there could be potential of a hybrid or telework environment.
