Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia - principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Job Description
Piedmont Virginia Community College is seeking a FT Laboratory Manager for the Biological Sciences beginning Spring 2023 semester. This individual will fulfill a key position in the Health and Life Sciences Division, which primarily addresses responsibilities for the operations of life science labs along with life science faculty collaborations to ensure effective lab utilization across disciplines.
The successful candidate will ensure quality lab experiences for students through preparation of instructional materials for lab courses and in support of capstone biology projects; act as a resource for adjunct lab instructors; ensure maintenance, preparation and ordering of lab supplies and equipment; be a contact and coordinate with offsite instructors at prisons.

Core Responsibilities include:
· Prep and clean-up all Biology, A&P and Microbiology labs.
· Maintain laboratory safety manual for Biology, Microbiology and A&P labs.
· Maintain inventory and purchase lab supplies for all Biology, Microbiology and A&P labs
· Manage budget for Biology, Microbiology and A&P.
· Act as resource and support person for adjunct faculty and full-time biology faculty.
· Maintain lab equipment
· Serve as Biology lab safety officer
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor ‘s degree in Biological Sciences (or a closely related field) with hands-on laboratory experience in Biology, Microbiology, A&P (or closely related field) is required; previous laboratory experience, industrial or academic; experience with the use and daily maintenance of common laboratory equipment; knowledge of OSHA laboratory protective equipment use and waste disposal requirements. A commitment to the community college mission and philosophy, and a commitment to diversity.
