Job Description
The Graduate School is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Graduate Student Services Coordinator.
The Student Services coordinator assists with the management and support of Graduate Student Services in the Graduate School. Responsibilities include the initiation, planning and delivery of services and programs for graduate students with particular focus on professional development opportunities; gathering, organizing and synthesizing information and data in support of new programs and projects; collaborating with a variety of departments and organizations to create new programs, events and workshops for graduate students; development and maintenance of the Graduate Life Center and student-service oriented pages of the Graduate School websites and social media; and the management of the graduate student co-op program, including the review and approval of applications and evaluations; coordination with the Cranwell International Center, academic departments and employers, and the periodic review and revision of co-op policies and procedures.
Reporting directly to the Director of Student Services, this individual routinely interacts with a diverse population of students, department personnel, faculty and others on behalf of the Graduate School in a customer service capacity.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of experience/training; demonstrated experience in student support; demonstrated experience in problem-solving and troubleshooting; demonstrated professional writing skills such as business correspondence, promotional materials, and web content; demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple competing priorities, adhere to project timelines, and exercise confidentiality when working with sensitive issues; demonstrated experience in record management; proven ability to cultivate positive working relationships, foster teamwork, and support collaboration; demonstrated experience and commitment to diversity; proficiency in working with computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference given for experience working with graduate students or non-traditional students; familiarity with Virginia Tech policies and procedures; experience with event or project development and coordination; experience forming relationships with off-campus entities; experience with webpage content development.
