Job Duties
Come join our team at the Department of Workforce Development and Advancement (DWDA)! In 2023, bipartisan legislation consolidated a dozen workforce development programs and data systems from various existing Commonwealth of Virginia agencies to create the Department of Workforce Development and Advancement (DWDA), known as Virginia Works. On July 1, 2024, Virginia Works stood up as an independent agency dedicated to creating, sustaining, and retaining a highly skilled workforce, and committed to making sure Virginia Works for everyone.
Provides management, supervision, and program oversight to ensure deliverables and activities comply with grant requirements. Promotes program and activities to solicit and add new apprenticeship participants statewide. Creates and manages the grants management and goal attainment and implementation schedule, ensuring deliverables and deadlines are met. Conducts and/or oversees liaison work with the DOL Employment and Training Administration, maintains project related data and database, and prepares and submits performance reports. Works closely with finance staff to process grant application and forms. Works closely with procurement staff to create and process a request for proposal to obtain an appropriate grant reporting system. Serves as subject matter expert to integrate work with other partners (e.g., select colleges and other state agencies).
Minimum Qualifications
• Comprehensive knowledge of grant management practices to include related procurement, fiscal, planning, and reporting processes; workforce and registered apprenticeship programs; and work-based learning models. • Strong computer, oral and written communication, grants management, supervisory, and customer service skills. • Ability to collect and analyze data; prepare grant related reports; effectively supervise staff; manage grants activities to ensure program compliance; market and promote program activities.
Additional Considerations
Education, training, and/or experience related to business, accounting, marketing, economics, or related field.
Experience managing large grant-funded projects with a proven record of accomplishment and with marketing and promoting a voluntary program with multiple industry and governmental partners.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license; occasional travel, sometimes overnight, is required.
• Experience in federal grants administration, reporting, and compliance and/or experience and knowledge of Registered Apprenticeship and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs.
