The UVA Office of Post-Award Research Administration in the School of Engineering & Applied Science is seeking a Grants and Contracts Administrator or a Senior Grants and Contracts Administrator.
The Office of Post-Award Administration, with a large, complex, and diverse portfolio of grants and contracts, is committed to providing the highest-quality post-award administrative services by working collaboratively with faculty and staff to deliver high quality award account management services.
These services include award administrative processing, financial analysis, compliance and regulation assessments and risk mitigation management strategies. The Office of Post-Award Administration is part of the research administration team of the Engineering Research Office. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Engineering Research Administration, Post-Award.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing research awards for Engineering research faculty.The ideal candidate will support researchers in:
Planning and managing research awards from start to completion and manage project/contract to scope, schedule and budget.
Compile, analyze, and interpret complex data, provide technical analysis, financial guidance, and projections.
Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, budgets, and labor/management agreements. Analyze situations, identify problems, and recommend solutions specifically the interpretation of funding agency regulations and requirements.
Monitor award and project progress and compliance.
Review and approve invoices, purchasing orders and other forms of procurement.
Handle document preparation, reconciliation review and prepare various reports and requests for stakeholders as required.
Negotiate successful resolutions to various situations while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
For Grants & Contracts Admin:
Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of grant and contracts experience is required. Four additional years or experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 or more years of experience managing grants finances.
Preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and the ability to learn how to use UVA's financial, research and/or student systems is required. Preference for those candidates who are currently proficient in using UVA's Workday and Huron systems.
The ability to work collaboratively in a team unit as well as work independently with minimal supervision, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, interact professionally with faculty and staff and negotiate successful resolutions to various situations while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
Remote/telework may be considered
Salary: $60k - $70k per year
For Senior Grants & Contracts Admin:
Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of grant and contracts experience is required. Four additional years or experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
5 or more years of experience managing grants finances.
Preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and the ability to learn how to use UVA's financial, research and/or student systems is required.
Proficiency in using Workday and Huron systems.
The ability to work collaboratively in a team unit as well as work independently with minimal supervision, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, interact professionally with faculty and staff and negotiate successful resolutions to various situations while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) preferred.
Remote/telework may be considered
Physical Demands:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
This position will remain open until filled. This is an Exempt level, benefited position. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. Depending on the work being performed and the incumbent’s performance, a hybrid or remote environment may be available. This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Salary: $80k - $85k per year
