VCU's Facilities Management Department is seeking to hire a Groundsworker in the Physical Plant.
The Groundsworker performs a range of activities including litter/trash collection and assisting full-time grounds workers with landscape maintenance tasks including, but not limited to mowing, pruning, mulching, weed control, leaf collection, snow removal, and other landscape maintenance tasks.
The Groundsworker performs tasks in accordance with department standards; uses various hand tools and power equipment safely as directed by the supervisor; may receive task guidance from supervisors, lead workers, or senior grounds workers.
This position is designated to work at VCU during emergencies, or when the University closes during certain weather conditions and is subject to being "on call."
The work schedule may include weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday), holidays, after-hours events, and shifts during inclement winter weather.
Minimum Hiring Standards
Valid Virginia Driver's License required
Must be able to read and write, follow verbal and written instruction, and use a computer to enter time cards or receive work requests
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
