Provide clinical and liaison services in the VCU Health System and teaching to trainees, and health system medical providers.
Chief Purpose of this position:
Provide clinical and liaison services within designated VCU Health System programs, particularly the Trauma and Burn Surgery departments. Provide teaching and supervision in the Health Psychology Postdoctoral and Psychiatry residency programs.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Areas of concentration include outpatient treatment of patients with recent traumatic injury admissions, particularly trauma-focused treatments including Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, inpatient health psychology consultation and liaison work with patients with traumatic injury and other general clinics in the Department and other clinics as assigned;
2. Teaching Supervision of a health psychology post-doctoral fellow and doctoral level psychology students and teaching other trainees (including psychiatry residents, graduate program practicum students, undergraduate psychology students).
3. Service Assist in training within the health psychology postdoctoral fellowship; service on appropriate committees of the department, university, and health system. Provide national and local leadership, advocacy, and public education/public policy guidance related to health behaviors research.
Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program, advanced training and experience in clinical health psychology, licensed or license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Experience in treating Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
• Experience in a broad range of behavioral health interventions to include but not limited to adherence to medical care, pain management, traumatic injury, substance abuse, and illness prevention.
• Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary research collaborations developing approaches to challenging behavioral problems related to health psychology.
Preferred Qualifications:
• APA accredited postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology. • ABPP board certification in Clinical Health Psychology.
