General Description: Cooperatively assist students with various healthcare subjects including but not limited to math, sciences, and writing (as feasible) through instruction and implementing study skills.
Duties and Tasks: Distribute information leading to academic improvement using a metacognitive approach; Consult with faculty regarding center’s resources; Research current list of useful Internet resources for student and faculty use; Work closely with ASC Coordinator, faculty, and student success staff to provide optimal services to students; Provide tutoring services orientation every semester for any willing faculty member. Provide face-to-face and/or online tutoring assistance to students as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Required KSAs:
Superior customer service skills
Assist with faculty interaction
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Maintain upkeep of Tutoring Center
Ability to provide Tutoring Services to students
Assist the Tutoring Services Coordinator, academic discipline faculty and staff, and Student Services faculty and staff to provide optimal services to students
Attend and participate in training as it relates to the position for service enhancement and professional development
Minimum Qualifications:
Progress towards a Health Sciences/Nursing degree or certificate, or successful completion of undergraduate program coursework with a grade of ‘B’ or higher in content area related to tutoring subject, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
Availability to work day and evening shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous tutoring or teaching experience of math, science, and/or healthcare subjects (Nursing & Allied Health) in a college setting.
Associate’s degree or certificate in health sciences or related field.
One-on-one and group tutoring experience preferred.
