The Department of Family Medicine & Population Health is seeking a part-time (20-29 hours per week) hourly research assistant to join our team. This position will support primary care research study activities conducted by the VCU Family Medicine research team, on site at the Richmond office location. Applicants must be available to work at minimum 20 hours per week, between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Organizing, printing, and collating patient lists for large survey mailings
• Assisting with qualitative and quantitative data collection
• Reviewing and recording medical documentation and patient surveys into REDCap and Excel databases
• Assisting with medical chart abstraction
• Contacting community resources and primary care practices by phone and/or email
• Participate in staff meetings and training
Requirements:
Experience handling large data sets including data entry skills
Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Ability to maintain HIPPA standards as required by the University & VCU Health
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be available to work on-site at our office in Richmond, Virginia
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise with Microsoft Office suite and REDCap
Previous research experience
This is a grant funded position. Continuation of this position depends on the continuation of grant funding. Employees may elect to may participate in the university’s tax-deferred annuity and the state’s deferred compensation programs and are covered under the Commonwealth of Virginia's Workers' Compensation Act. However, this is a wage position and therefore is not eligible for participation in the state's health benefits program, life insurance, employer-funded retirement, or cash match programs. The work-hour limit for hourly employees is 1,480 hours annually (365 consecutive days). Work hours include regular and overtime hours, student hours, and any other hours worked in a second job with VCU.
