Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

We are hiring for an evening part-time Housekeeper to ensure all areas are clean and tidy. While maintaining public areas, including lobbies, hallways, and restrooms. A Housekeeper plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.

In this role the candidate will assist in providing an environmentally safe working environment for residents and staff. Here at the Department of juvenile justice employees will be required to perform entry level custodial services and janitorial operations in accordance with specific guidelines and safety regulations. These regulations are to include blood-borne pathogens and other related OSHA and EPA guidelines.

The objective of this position is to routinely maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and wellness for the Bon Air campus. The scope of work includes but is not limited to the following buildings: sixteen buildings with office spaces. One educational school building, and two vocational/trade school building.

We are offering a $500.00 Sign-On Bonus for eligible evening housekeepers.

Hours are Monday-Friday 4:00pm-9:00pm (cannot exceed 30 hours a week)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of residential/commercial cleaning and sanitation techniques, and proper use of chemicals and solutions.
  • Knowledge of the proper use of personal protective equipment relevant to janitorial and/or housekeeping functions.
  • Demonstrates an ability to perform multiple cleaning tasks
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of standard cleaning techniques and industry guidelines and safety regulations
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) OSHA guidelines and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Experience using industrial grade cleaning equipment
