We are seeking a detail‑oriented Housekeeping Supervisor to assist the Housekeeping Manager with daily departmental operations. This position ensures assigned areas are properly staffed, well‑maintained, and compliant with established standards. The Supervisor provides direct oversight to day porters/housekeepers, manages scheduling, responds to service requests, and enforces division operating procedures. This role is essential to staff development, performance management, customer service, and maintaining safe, clean conditions throughout State‑managed buildings.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitor staff performance, address issues quickly, and document concerns as they arise.
  • Review safety matters regularly and communicate expectations to support a safe, healthy workplace.
  • Verify weekly timesheets for accuracy and ensure timely submission.
  • Coordinate with Special Events staff to support proper event set‑up and breakdown.
  • Maintain inventory of housekeeping and special events equipment and supplies.
  • Inspect assigned areas—including restrooms—to ensure sanitary conditions.
  • Provide coverage during staff shortages and schedule moving or floor‑stripping projects as needed.
  • Resolve customer complaints within 24 hours.
  • Train new employees on equipment use, cleaning techniques, and departmental standards.
  • Deliver professional, courteous customer service to visitors and staff at all times.

The schedule for this role is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., with occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

  • Experience performing a variety of custodial and housekeeping tasks in a commercial or institutional setting.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Skilled in operating industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, methods, materials, equipment, and chemicals used on a wide range of surfaces.
  • Understanding of safety practices for handling cleaning chemicals and supplies, and familiarity with sanitation standards for public facilities.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and using cleaning machinery.
  • Basic computer skills for email, timesheets, and work‑order systems.

Additional Considerations

  • Supervisory or lead custodial/housekeeping experience in a multi‑building or high‑traffic environment.
  • Experience coordinating special event setups, inventory management, or floor‑care projects (stripping, waxing, etc.).
  • Familiarity with facility or work‑order management systems.
