General Information:

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is seeking a Night Shift Housekeeping Supervisor (Bilingual). The shift is Sunday – Thursday, 10:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m., with overtime as required to cover special events and inclement weather.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide effective supervision to 10-25 employees.
• Ensure that proper cleaning and safety procedures are followed by all team members.
• Ensure assigned facilities are cleaned to university standards and promote customer service and teamwork.
• Administrative duties include preparation and maintenance of daily check-in sheets and requisitions for supplies and equipment; distribution of work orders; assistance in annual inventory; addressing performance issues and conducting probationary and yearly performance reviews.
• The employee in this position will be considered designated, meaning the work performed is essential to university operations and the employee will be required to work during periods of authorized closings.

 

Qualifications:

Required
• Strong and effective communication abilities verbally and in written format.
• Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, equipment, machines, and safety practices related to custodial services.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to lead the work of others.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations and communicate verbally.
• Ability to perform manual labor on a sustained basis and operate large cleaning equipment, such as buffers and vacuums.
• Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in both languages
• Applicants must be at least 19 years old, possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 24 months, and have an acceptable motor vehicle report.
