Job Duties
The successful HRBP acts as an employee champion and change agent. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with the HR department and business management, the HRBP seeks to develop integrated solutions. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the university. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit’s operations, its forecasted plans, its culture and its competition.
Human Resource Expertise
Provide guidance and expertise in the areas of talent acquisition, employee benefits, compensation, employee relations, human resource compliance, organizational structure and talent development.
Relationship Management
Assist managers with merging the gap between leadership and faculty/staff to build a lasting relationship.
Coach managers to create an environment where faculty/staff feel comfortable to share concerns and issues.
Manage relationships between the organization and faculty/staff as well as coworkers working at the same level.
Be clear and transparent with actions and the decisions.
Communication
Maintain an open door policy and create an inviting, comfortable atmosphere that encourages faculty/staff to feel safe and openly share their concerns.
Handle sensitive information appropriately, only divulging it to the authorized people.
Empower faculty/staff to find their own solutions by listening attentively for opportunities to recommend existing resources or converse with other relevant parties.
Business Acumen
Understand how the university operates and functions as a competitive environment which operates and uses information to effectively make decisions.
