Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist position provides functional support to the college in the areas of talent acquisition, talent development, talent management, policy compliance and general HR administrative responsibilities. The position serves as the HR transactional lead for the College of Science dean's office while also serving as a strategic HR partner. The HR Generalist reports to the Human Resources Division Director for the College of Science.
The HR Generalist position will be onsite during the initial six months of the position to ensure the most effective training in a college setting is received for the position. The role may transition to up to one day of teleworking per week at the conclusion of the initial training period.
A successful HR Generalist:
Is an effective communicator with an emphasis on confidentiality. Professional written and verbal communication are crucial in the daily responsibilities of this position. Meetings will be held in a combination of forms including in person, hybrid and zoom. Strong verbal communication skills will ensure that the goals of the position are met while effectively working with various levels of stakeholders internal and external to the college.
Understands and re-enforces compliance and collaboration in a professional manner. College stakeholders will look to this role for guidance and support. Building relationships will be key to the success of this position.
Is able to manage, interpret and summarize data. Attention to detail and interest in the importance of how HR data drives effective operations are crucial to this position.
Recognizes the need for collaboration, consistency and the importance of deadlines. This position supports the HR function for the college and ensures that HR support is provided when needed for faculty, staff and all employees of the college.
Reinforces the importance of diversity and inclusion. The College of Science values and seeks to advance diversity, equity and inclusion through our vision, mission, and core values. The work of the HR Generalist will be integral to this advancement.
Is energized by a dynamic environment. This position will work with multiple stakeholders at both the college and university level. Staying informed of the changing regulatory landscape of human resources is crucial to this position.

Required Qualifications
Previous HR responsibilities and keen understanding of HR operations.
Experience working with and maintaining highly confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with positive results.
Customer service driven outlook with corresponding training or experience.
Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Experience and interest in HR data gathering and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Associate degree in HR, Business or related field or equivalent work experience.
Familiarity with federal and state employment laws, HR principles and practices.
