Job Summary/Basic Functions

The University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a HVAC Technician Lead. In this role, you will perform highly skilled repair, maintenance and/or installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in one or more of the following modes: serves as project leader; serves as team leader and/or team member; works independently to provide senior-level HVAC work. Backup EMS technician and HVAC Manager in their absence and become gas fitter certified.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of all aspects of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC operation, repair, maintenance, and installation.
  • Advanced skills in the use of HVAC diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot and diagnose repair problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Demonstrated ability to work from heights, and from ladders and scaffolding.
  • Demonstrated ability to lift and carry equipment and tools.

 

Required Experience:

  • Extensive experience in HVAC operation, repair, maintenance, and installation.

 

Additional Considerations:

EDUCATION

  • High school/GED or related experience.
  • Vocational training or course work in HVAC/R.


Experience

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems, Automated Logic WebCTRL, Trane Tracer Summit, and Johnson Controls Metasys.


LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

  • Journeyman/Master's License in HVAC.
