Job Description:


Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.

The IET Coordinator / Instructor supports the Adult Education Program by delivering contextualized instruction aligned with Integrated Education and Training (IET) models while coordinating workforce-aligned classes and supporting student recruitment, enrollment, and persistence. This part-time position works under the guidance of the Regional Adult Education Program Manager and in collaboration with Adult Education staff, workforce partners, and community organizations to support learner success and grant-funded program objectives. This part time position is a 42 weeks per year, 25 hours per week position. This position is primarily based at a satellite office in Northampton County, with periodic travel to Eastern Shore Community College for meetings, coordination, and required check-ins.

Functional Responsibilities:
Instruction
  • Teach contextualized reading, writing, mathematics, and workforce-readiness skills aligned with IET program models.
  • Administer, score, and document student assessments in accordance with Adult Education and IET requirements.
  • Track student attendance, progress, and skill gains; support learner persistence and completion.
  • Use approved curriculum and assist with the development or improvement of instructional materials.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment responsive to adult learner needs.
Program Coordination
  • Coordinate existing IET classes and assist with the development of new workforce-aligned offerings.
  • Support planning and operational setup for the Northampton County satellite site, including scheduling and logistics.
  • Maintain communication with the ESCC main campus to ensure program consistency.
  • Collaborate with workforce partners, employers, and community organizations under the supervision of the program manager.
  • Maintain required program documentation and complete basic data entry related to IET participation and outcomes.
Recruitment, Outreach, and Student Support
  • Assist with recruitment of adult learners for IET and Adult Education programs.
  • Support outreach activities in Accomack and Northampton counties.
  • Assist with enrollment, orientation, and retention activities.
  • Serve as a point of contact for students, providing accurate information regarding program expectations, schedules, and pathways to employment or further education.
  • Provide front-line customer service support for individuals entering or calling the Adult Education office.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience teaching or training a variety of learners and learning abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing instructional and coordination responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience collecting, entering, and maintaining accurate student and program data.
  • Comfort using computers, instructional technology, and data systems.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with students, staff, and community partners.
Additional Considerations:

  • Experience with teaching or training adult learners.
  • Experience with workforce training, Integrated Education and Training (IET), or career pathway programs.
  • Experience supporting grant-funded education programs.
