Insurance Policy Analyst (Hybrid)
Starting Salary Range: $60,500 - $110,000

The State Corporation Commission's (SCC) Bureau of Insurance (BOI) seeks a policy analyst to specialize in legislative and policy analysis for the regulation of the insurance industry in Virginia. This position may be filled within the SCC Salary Structure as a Grade 9 (Insurance Policy Analyst), Grade 11 (Senior Insurance Policy Analyst), or Grade 14 (Insurance Policy Advisor) based on qualifications. Reporting to the Chief Policy Advisor, this role will join a team of Insurance Policy Advisors within BOI who serve as a key resource for federal and state regulation and on compliance matters relating to the financial regulation of insurers, regulation of insurance agents, life and health insurance regulation, and property and casualty insurance regulation.

Essential responsibilities (all grade levels) include the following:

• Conduct quantitative/qualitative policy analysis; synthesize findings into clear recommendations.
• Draft, analyze, and track legislation and regulatory proposals.
• Develop and update policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; implement legislative mandates.
• Monitor and evaluate insurance market trends.
• Serve as a liaison to stakeholders (industry, consumer groups, National Association of Insurance Commissioners, legislative commissions, or sister agencies).
• Prepare findings and recommendations to senior leadership and external bodies.
• Perform related work as required.
