The Department of Neurology, in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia, is seeking an administrative assistant to provide administrative and clerical support to faculty physicians. This position is open to applicants who meet the requirements of an Intermediate Administrative Assistant or a Senior Administrative Assistant. The incumbent will work directly with faculty for coordination of meetings, events and travel, preparation of presentations and written reports for meetings and research activities, and act as a liaison for patients and visitors. The incumbent will manage patient information inquiries; triage incoming phone calls, correspondence and perform online literature searches. The administrative assistant will report to the Administrative Team Leader. The ideal candidate will have the ability to attain the skillset needed to use current technology and computer applications to effectively and efficiently manage workflow and physician administrative needs.

This position provides excellent customer service to physicians, external customers and fellow team members in a fast-paced, academic office. A high level of professionalism and confidentiality is essential, as is the ability to work within a team of administrative support professionals, ensuring follow through on faculty initiatives in support of the clinical, research and educational missions of the department.

Minimum Requirements:

Intermediate Administrative Assistant

Education: High School Diploma
Experience: At least one year of relevant experience.

Senior Administrative Assistant requirements

Education: High School diploma. Bachelor's may substitute experience.
Experience: Four years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree may substitute for years of experience.

This position will remain open until filled. This is a Non-Exempt level, benefited position. This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas. Licensure: None PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
