The UVA Health Internal Traveler Program (ITP) offers experienced healthcare professionals the flexibility of 13-week assignments combined with the opportunity to become part of one of the nation's leading academic health systems. Internal Travelers can explore new clinical environments, expand their skills, and earn competitive compensation and sign-on incentives while working assignments for up to 39 weeks .

Available to both current UVA Health travelers and external candidates.

The Role

As a Certified Surgical Technologist at UVA Health, you will:

  • Prepare surgical supplies and instrumentation based on surgeon preference cards


  • Maintain a sterile field and demonstrate strong aseptic technique


  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and the perioperative team


  • Support safe, efficient surgical workflows across a variety of procedures


  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing OR team environment


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduated from an CAHEEP or ABHES accredited by CAHEEP/ABHES OR NCCT Approved program.

Experience: Three years of experience required.

Licensure: BLS required. Certified to practice as a Surgical Technologist by NBSTSA (The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting). Current Registration with Virginia Board of Medicine required at the time of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods; Repetitive motion: passing instruments, lifting heavy instrument sets. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull >50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay rate for this role is $63.00 hourly. This position is compensated at a fixed rate. Compensation is established in accordance with the position's approved pay structure.
