Job Duties
VRS Investments Internal Equity Management (IEM) Team is seeking an Equity Portfolio Intern (EPI). The EPI will contribute to ongoing projects and will assist in building reports and portfolio monitoring tools to their FactSet platform; the EPI will construct reports and model documentation, as a part of this effort. This will require the incumbent to understand equity investments, coupled with programming and data wrangling. Additionally, the EPI may assist with factor testing and collaborate on the design of training materials (including development of Python lessons), for others on the Investments team.
Additional Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Document and/or updating processes and procedures
• Responsible for assisting in the collection of requirements and enhancements of portfolio monitoring reports
• Effectively work with multiple internal departments and all levels of staff to move assigned projects forward
• Gather necessary data within IEM’s data infrastructure (FactSet or SQL)
• Use Python programming, to create requested ad-hoc reports
• Assist in the design of training materials for `Investments & Python` effort; develop a communications plan to inform staff of training materials/updates
• Maintain confidentiality of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and other sensitive data
• Perform other projects, or duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• The Intern will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree, or master's degree in a quantitative-related field (from an accredited college or university)
• Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Excel, and using general computer software
• Demonstrated experience working with relational database management systems, such as SQL, or similar software
• Familiarity with Mathematical Modeling in Economics and Finance
• Previous exposure to the mathematics and science of investments, including portfolio diversification and performance analysis
• Familiarity with Quantitative Programming
The successful candidate must also have the following key competencies: project management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and work independently, ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects, attention to detail and accuracy, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to maintain confidentiality; and a professional, positive demeanor.
Additional Considerations
• Prior experience working with a systematic quantitative equity team, preferred
• Specific familiarity with linear algebra, regression, economic theory, econometrics, preferred
• Specific experience developing financial and economic tools in a high-level language, such as MATLAB, R, Python or Julia, preferred

Currently, this position has a hybrid work schedule - requiring work in the office three days per week, and work remotely two days per week. The selected candidate must be able to work in the office any day of the week as required by the manager, and per the agreed upon internship schedule. *This is a temporary/wage position; therefore, benefits are not provided.*
