The Virginia State Bar, the state agency that regulates the practice of law in Virginia, seeks two investigators to investigate complaints of ethical misconduct by attorneys and the unauthorized practice of law. The primary territory is Northern Virginia, but successful candidates may also receive assignments in other areas of the state.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidates must be able to work independently from a home office environment in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia and willing to travel throughout the state, including overnight trips. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. In addition, candidates must be able to prioritize assignments; maintain strict confidentiality; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; and exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills. College degree required. Experience in computer forensics, exposure to a wide range of legal matters, such as family law, criminal law and immigration law, and/or JD are favorable. The selected candidates must also pass a criminal background check and disclose COVID-19 vaccination status as a condition of employment.
