Job Description
This position will monitor emerging network and IT technology threats, routinely confer with other IT professionals and user departments to provide tactical, strategic, technical guidance and assist in the design and implementation of appropriate access protection, audit control and evidentiary methods and procedures. Additionally, the position will routinely monitor practices to ensure that user access, system access, resources and information are secure. The position will be expected to perform security reviews, manage software used in the review process, recommend mitigating actions for those that present a security risk to the university, and ensure appropriate documentation is recorded. This person will assist in maintaining the Cyber Security Operations Center servers, assist in investigating security incidents, administer IT security systems and servers, and recommend security related standards and procedures at the departmental and university level. They will assist in the technical education of departmental personnel in order for them to keep abreast of new security threats and technologies.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, and or equivalent training and work experience.
● Experience in various Information Security roles.
● Experience with Information Security monitoring and troubleshooting.
● Experience installing and configuring information security tools such as Anti-Malware, Endpoint Detection and Response, Intrusion Detection/Protection, Vulnerability Management, File Integrity Monitoring, Security Information and Event Management, Privileged Account Management, etc.
● Experience setting up, administering, and securing Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
● Experience with TCP/IP networking.
Preferred Qualifications
● Relevant professional certifications such as GIAC, CISSP, CISA.
● Experience with IPv6.
● Experience working with network tools such as Zeek, Security Onion, Suricata/Snort, Nessus, Rapid 7, Acunetix, Encase, Metasploit, BackTrack, OSSEC, Netflow or similar tools.
● Experience with host based forensics, including the use of write-blockers, duplicators, and other forensic hardware.
● Experience with working independently on projects and achieving project objectives by required due dates.
● Significant system administration or audit experience in higher education.
● Understanding of key applicable federal, state, and local legislation such as FERPA, GLB, and HIPPA.
