Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The chief objective of this position is to provide support in lab research (molecular biology and cellular biology techniques) and to maintain laboratory supplies and equipment. Specific project is studying the regulation of gene expression in normal differentiation and development and in blood cells and in cancerous cells. Project assignments will change as priorities of the laboratory change.

Previous laboratory experience in cell culture and basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques required
Must be able to perform standard molecular biology techniques such as RNA and DNA isolation, qPCR, Western blots; Experience in molecular cloning also important
Detailed oriented, highly organized, good math skills, some prior lab experience required
Good organizational skills necessary; Must have ability to troubleshoot problems and ability to interpret data; Must interact well with colleagues
Minimal computer skills necessary
Preferred Hiring Standards
BS degree in relevant area (life sciences, biochemistry, or other science) or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
Experience with hematopoietic cell culture is preferred
Practical experience in transfection of recombinant DNA constructs, BSL-2 level virus packaging and infection preferred
