The Bochkis Lab in the Pharmacology Department at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine seeks applicants for a new Lab Specialist position. The Lab Specialist conducts experimental work and assists the Principal Investigator with in vivo experiments in mouse models of metabolic disease.
The successful candidate will be expected to manage the mouse colony, develop and execute assays to isolate nucleic acids and make protein extracts from tissues, perform chromatin precipitation, make libraries for next-generation sequencing, and learn how to analyze sequencing data.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, and at least 3 years of laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting OR 6 years of lab-related experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Experience with mouse work is preferred.
Must be proficient with computer software, including Word, Power Point and Excel
Experience with library preparation for next-generation sequencing is preferred
Anticipated Hiring Salary: $40,000-45,000
