Job Summary & General Responsibilities:
The technician will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) and work closely with all members of the lab (Ph.D., M.S., MD/PhD, interns, and Post-Doctoral fellows) to provide support to advance our collective research interests. General responsibilities will vary based on the individuals experience but may all some or all of the following: general lab and equipment maintenance, inventory and record keeping, supply ordering, bacterial cultivation and maintenance, microscopy (light, dark-field, fluorescence), protein production, protein purification, molecular techniques (PCR, electrophoresis, DNA isolation, RT-PCR, QPCR), immunological techniques (immunoblots, ELISAs, antibody analyses) and work with animal models (mice and rats).
Required Hiring Standards:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology or a related discipline. In lieu of a master, candidates with: a) significant post-B.S. degree work experience in industry or academic research labs or b) candidates with a B.S. degree with a proven track record of productive hands-on research will be considered. Priority will be given to individuals with demonstrated experience with one or more of the following: protein production and protein purification using HPLC or FPLC, ELISA assays, immunoblotting, bacterial cultivation, and animal handling (mice and rats). Motivation, enthusiasm, and the ability to multi-task and work in a team-based dynamic environment are required.
Preferred Hiring Standards:
Master's degree in microbiology or a related discipline or research experience post-graduation in an academic or industry lab.
