The Campbell laboratory in the Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences at Virginia Tech is looking for an experienced laboratory technician who can assist its primary investigatory (Pl) with the operational oversight of the laboratory and independently oversee research activities within the laboratory. This position supports projects focused on seizure development in different mouse models. The person in this position is expected to report directly to the laboratory director. The lab technician will be involved in several aspects of animal care experiments.
Required Qualifications
Experience with animal husbandry and genotyping; Writing, updating, and maintaining laboratory policy and procedure manuals according to department standards; Ensuring that the laboratory meets regulatory safety requirements
Preferred Qualifications
BS in neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, biology or related field; Some experience in performing laboratory experiments and procedures involving laboratory animals; Previous experience performing seizure observation and analysis, EEG analysis or cellular assays including immunohistochemistry, Western blot and qPCR.
