The Department of OBGYN is seeking a nocturnist/laborist to support Labor and Delivery as the primary attending both providing direct clinical care and educational support/oversight of Residents and other learners.
Night shift on Labor Delivery is also supported by on-call services from Maternal Fetal Medicine faculty. Certified Nurse Midwives provide at-home night call coverage and deliver their own cohort of patients. UVA Medical Center averages 2,100 births per calendar year at the Charlottesville location.
Our Labor and Delivery is ranked in the 2021 top 1% by the Leapfrog Group of all labor and delivery units in the US, reflecting our commitment to providing the highest quality perinatal care. The Department has an excellent faculty and resident staff, which is given appropriate resources for research, including basic science laboratories.
Job Description:
Clinical - Provide full scope obstetrics care on the Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby Units at UVA Medical Center.
Teaching - Teaching encompasses all activities that directly facilitate student learning, including the contact hours spent in the classroom, office hours, class preparation, grading, answering student email, student advising, evaluating and making available course materials, facilitating e-learning and related duties.
Service- - University service involves membership in departmental, college-level and university committees, attending departmental meetings, student recruitment and processing routine paperwork such as filling out reports, answering email, participating in surveys and voting in university elections.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education: MD or equivalent +/- PhD by appointment start date
Licensure: Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology
