Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The VCU School of Education’s Child Development Center is seeking to hire a full-time Lead Teacher to plan and implement a high-quality educational program for young children. This individual will provide an exemplary clinical site for preservice educational experiences, faculty research, and community outreach. This individual will also guide and supervise volunteers and interns.
Minimum Hiring Standards
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field, or equivalent applicable training and/or experience;
Two years experience working in a NAEYC-accredited program as a lead or assistant teacher;
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive student environment;
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing lesson plans that meet the needs of all children;
Demonstrated experience assessing children through portfolios based upon identified objectives; and
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse learning environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Hiring Standards
Endorsement in early childhood special education.
Required Licenses/ Certifications
Active Virginia teaching license in early childhood education or early childhood special education, or eligible within 90 days of employment.
