Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates In transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.
Circulation services: Assist patrons, check material in/out, maintain shelves, route and handle interlibrary loan requests, train and supervise work study students, make operational procedure recommendations, work flexible hours, administer tests upon request, process ID/Library cards, maintain the periodical collections.
Reference services: assist patrons with research, us electronic and print resources, assist patrons with use of Microsoft Office applications and Windows (or available software).
Clerical support: prepare correspondence, newsletters, memoranda, reports, etc.; process requisitions and invoices, route mail, assist preparation of annual reports, record and distribute Library Learning Commons (LLC) Department meeting minutes, maintain files, distribute and compile surveys, order materials, remit claim forms, compile budgetary reports of purchases by discipline/faculty and revise/update policy and procedures manual, LLC home page, etc.
Technology Applications: supervise and provide training for the operation of the ID system, troubleshoot problems with computers, copier, printers, and fax machine, and resolve problems when possible with a service call.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications:
-High school diploma or equivalent. -Extensive experience working in a customer service setting. -Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and desire to provide excellent customer service. -Demonstrated basic proficiency using computer-based technology such as word processing, spreadsheet, and email software. -Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot for library operations (technology, workflow, inventory). -Ability to communicate with diverse public and co-workers both verbally, and in writing. -Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings.
Preferred Qualifications:
-An associate degree in business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Experience working in a library or bookstore. -Experience with automated library systems. -Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
