The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks candidate for a part-time (20 hours/week) Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP). This position will work directly with The Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP) and will also work closely with the Division of Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at UVA. VMAP is a pediatric focused training, consultation, and referral program designed to increase capacity for Primary Care Providers (PCPs) to treat and respond to common pediatric mental health conditions including depression, anxiety and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). VMAP consists of five regional hubs that provide localized mental health consultations for PCPs.
Each regional hub consists of a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (CAP), a licensed mental health professional (LMHP), and a care navigator. This LMHP will work closely with the other half-time LMHP to provide oversight, coordination and management of his/her/their respective regional hub and serve as the initial point of contact for incoming calls to the VMAP line. LMHPs receive and screen incoming calls from PCPs, provide case conceptualization and diagnosis support, and work alongside VMAP CAPs on consultations.
The LMHP will also supervise the regional hub’s care navigators. VMAP’s care navigators provide direct family support for youth identified with behavioral health diagnoses who need additional services outside of primary care, including referral to and engagement with external behavioral health services. The LMHP position will works closely with the care navigator to ensure PCPs are directed towards the right referrals and resources based on the case, the consultation, and the patient’s specific needs.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
Respond to incoming calls to the VMAP line during normal business hours; screen and triage requests to additional hub staff as appropriate (CAP and/or care navigator).
Provide clinical advice via consultation to individual PCPs related to patient care for cases, in line with practice guidelines and best practices in pediatric psychology.
Providing consults directly to PCPs
Providing case-specific recommendations regarding behavioral health interventions including parent coaching, parent support and treatment/practice recommendations for PCPs
Consulting with PCPs on current treatment plans to determine best course of action and providing alternative recommendations when needed
Providing ongoing support for specific cases with the goal of working with PCPs (and hub team members) to develop transition plans to long-term care
If additional care is needed outside of the primary care setting, work in conjunction with regional hub care navigator to refer patients to the appropriate external behavioral health resources
Provide oversight, coordination and management of regional hub operations
Provide day to day operational supervision of regional hub’s care navigators
Conduct regular outreach to primary care provider offices within respective VMAP region
Assist with VMAP educational offerings, including the recruitment of regional staff/faculty and marketing VMAP educational opportunities to regional PCPs
Work in conjunction with VMAP Medical Director and Medical Society of Virginia Foundation (MSVF) to integrate appropriate clinical and administrative functions into hub activities
Assist MSVF and appropriate VMAP team members to collect and maintain all required data to ensure evaluation and reporting requirements are met
Adhere to HIPAA privacy policies and hospital/health center regulations
Complete all other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Administrator

Qualified candidates must have: Education: Master's or Doctoral degree. Experience: Five years clinical work experience. Licensure: Clinical Social Work (LCSW), Professional Counseling (LPC), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Clinical Psychologist (LCP)
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Have a specialization in child and adolescent behavioral health as documented by education and previous work experience.
• Have supervision and/or consultation experience.
• Have experience working with primary care providers.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
Teaching experience preferred.
Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The Licensed Mental Health Professional will report to Dr. Caitlin Anderson, Assistant Professor. This position is a restricted position, dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. This is an exempt-level, part-time, benefited position. This position is located in Charlottesville, VA, and will have the option for remote work. The anticipated start date is November 14, 2022 but this is flexible. This position will remain open until filled. The anticipated hiring range is $48,000-50,000 annually commensurate with education and experience.
