Job Duties
Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units.
Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is recruiting for a LPN Floor Nurse with Charge Nurse responsibilities for either the 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, 3:00 pm-11:30 pm or 11:00 pm – 7:30 am shift and every other weekend. The LPN is responsible for delivering skilled nursing care for our veteran residents. The LPN is responsible for maintaining the quality of services and monitoring and supervising the direct care staff in the performance of their duties.
Duties include: Administering medications and treatment accurately for assigned residents; Making daily rounds; observing and evaluating the physical and emotional status of assigned residents and taking necessary actions to ensure their health and well-being; Consulting with physicians, receiving, recording and implementing orders and scheduling appointments; Documenting residents’ health changes via acute care nurse’s notes and shift change nursing reports; Formulating plans of care for new residents; Preparing all required reports and documentation; Maintaining equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for nursing care; Consulting with Nursing Supervisor/Unit Manager as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Licensed as a Practical Nurse in Virginia
Preferred Qualifications:
Nursing experience in a long term care or adult geriatric setting
Supervision experience
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
