Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $130,000 - $155,000

Starting Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience

The Virginia State Corporation Commission’s (SCC) Bureau of Insurance (Bureau) seeks an experienced Life and Health Insurance Actuary to join our Financial Regulation Division. In time, this position will oversee and manage a small actuarial examination team within the division and will serve as an actuarial resource and provide training and support to staff in examinations and in the review and certification of reserves and other actuarial liabilities. The selected candidate for this position will develop, evaluate, and implement procedures to measure and assess actuarial and risk management controls to ensure solvency of Virginia life and health insurers. This will also include determining the adequacy and accuracy of rates and rate making methodologies. The Life and Health Insurance Actuary will additionally review actuarial reserve filings of life and health insurers and will develop and maintain actuarial reserve models. This position will represent the Bureau on National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) actuarial work groups and task forces. The Life and Health Insurance Actuary will perform other actuarial related work as required.
