Nurses at UVA Health conduct evidence-based practice within a structure that allows point-of-care clinicians to drive questions and solutions, with support from the larger structure of quality improvement science and evidence-based practice. The Manager of Professional Practice manages and oversees the professional practice outcomes of microsystem-based Clinical Nurse Leaders (CNLs) whose responsibilities include conducting all aspects of professional development, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement for a healthcare microsystem. They coach, support, guide, and evaluate CNLs to elevate professional practice in a manner consistent with organizational (UVA Health) standards, workflows, processes, and strategic goals. The manager develops and supports systems and processes to ensure the effectiveness and sustainment of the CNL role to improve the delivery of evidence-based care and professional nursing practice.
Direct management and supervisory oversight of Clinical Nurse Leaders, providing leadership to CNLs and all UVA Health nurses in evidence-based practice and nursing professional development.
Serves as an advisor to the Nursing Practice Governance Organization on microsystem-level nursing professional development and evidence-based practice issues.
Collaborates with Nursing Professional Development to ensure seamless processes for transitioning new hires from general orientation to microsystem education.
Collaborates with unit-based leadership (UBL) on each microsystem and the Nurse Scientist to hire, onboard and continually evaluate CNLs.
Collaborates with UBL on each microsystem and the Nurse Scientist to set goals for CNLs that reflect UVA Health strategic goals, UVA Nursing strategic goals, and microsystem quality and patient safety goals, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Participates as an educator for evidence-based practice for other specialized educational areas
Accountable for ensuring productive and effective EBP in alignment with UVA Health EBP and nursing practice standards.
In collaboration with microsystem UBL, accountable for ensuring that competency standards are continually in alignment with regulatory standards across designated practice areas.
Contributes to UVA School of Nursing educational activities as appropriate

Position Compensation Range: $91,312.00 - $146,099.20 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Master’s degree in Nursing or higher.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience as a registered nurse working in a relevant practice area. Experienced working with both microsystem-based education and central orientation. Track record of successful evidence-based practice projects. Management of nurses in a complex healthcare environment strongly preferred.
Licensure: VA nursing license, CNL certification strongly preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
