Job Description

The Food and Agricultural Education Information System (FAEIS) and the Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education (ALCE) seek a Marketing and Communications Manager to lead and implement marketing and communications activities in support of the vision and strategic direction of the FAEIS program and ALCE department. This position is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy that aligns with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and university-wide communications, marketing, and branding initiatives.

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing strategic content that demonstrates the impact and significance of ALCE and FAEIS programs, research, and people — supporting college priorities related to enrollment, philanthropy, and institutional reputation.

This position will manage and optimize digital and print content for both FAEIS and ALCE, including websites, social media, and publications. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate, accessible, and strategically aligned content; supporting the development of digital and print materials; and ensuring compliance with Virginia Tech brand, editorial, and digital accessibility standards.

This position will work collaboratively with colleagues from FAEIS, ALCE, and the college’s marketing and communications team to ensure the position is supported, resourced, and aligned. The Marketing and Communications Manager will work with leadership to identify key audiences and develop targeted communications and marketing plans that drive measurable impact.

The position is eligible for a hybrid work agreement and the incumbent must be in commutable distance to Blacksburg, VA with a weekly on-campus presence. The position is expected to attend/cover some events outside of normal business hours.

All marketing and communications positions embedded in units across the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences maintain a dotted-line relationship with CALS Marketing and Communications to ensure alignment with college priorities, shared standards, and professional development.
