Chief Purpose of this position: Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) are seeking a Medical Director of Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging to join our growing Division. This is a perfect position for the candidate that thrives in an environment that focuses on teamwork, collaboration, and dedication to patients, families, and each other. The candidate should have advanced training in non-invasive imaging (cMRI and CT preferred) while possessing professional, clinical, and leadership skills. We are a full-service Children’s Hospital that offers a robust continuum of pediatric services, research, and education. The Children’s Hospital of Richmond and the School of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University are committed to the continued growth of the Pediatric Cardiology Division. This growth has spurned the need for a head of non-invasive imaging that will be devoted to furthering the mission of VCU and CHoR, caring for patients and their team.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical: The candidate will be responsible for leading the advanced Pediatric Non-Invasive Imaging team. Additionally, they may be called on to perform other duties in Pediatric Cardiology at the discretion of the Chief of the Division.
Teaching: The faculty member will have the responsibility of teaching all learners in the area of Pediatric Cardiology with special focus on non-invasive imaging. The candidate will provide guidance and mentorship to sonographers, students, residents, faculty, and fellows in the area of Pediatric Cardiology.
Research: The faculty member is asked, but not required, to participate in clinical and/or basic science research. The candidate will also serve as a research mentor to others in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology.
Service: Faculty member will serve on Departmental, School of Medicine or National committees when appropriate. They will also be required to maintain all certifications applicable to the successful operation of the Pediatric Non-Invasive Imaging laboratory.
Other: Faculty member will take on administrative duties associated with this role.
Required Qualifications:
Board Eligible or Certified in Pediatrics and Cardiology
Experience with clinical care of patients with congenital cardiac disease
Experience with education of patients, family members, the community, and learners
A strong desire to perform clinical or basic science research
Excellent leadership skills
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership of a diverse group of individuals
Exceptional skills in Pediatric Non-Invasive Imaging
