Job Duties

The Clinical Supervisor oversees and supports mental health services staff at designated VADOC facilities. This role provides clinical supervision, consultation, and training to ensure that all mental health care provided meets professional standards and promotes positive outcomes for those in our custody.

Minimum Qualifications

Advanced degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Social Work, or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university

Thorough working knowledge of psychological assessment and treatment modalities

Thorough working knowledge of principles and practices of supervision

Knowledge of treatment program design and evaluation, quality assessment, implementation, and evaluation

Skill in working with professional and paraprofessional staff. Demonstrated ability to supervise and to work with multidisciplinary staff

Ability to develop and implement mental health services programs and quality assessment programs

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Additional Considerations

Licensed at the graduate level as a Mental Health clinician

Supervisory experience and experience in correctional, forensic, mental health, or other institutional setting
