Job Duties
SIGN-ON BONUS of $3,000 available to qualified applicants.
UPCOMING RETENTION BONUS:
Quarter 4 bonus of $3,000 -Employees who are employed as of April 1, 2023 and meet the defined criteria would be eligible for the retention bonus. The effective date would be May 25th, 2023 with a payout date of June 16th, 2023
In addition, VCBR offers supervision toward professional licensure and/or certification as well as many training opportunities. Employees at VCBR may also qualify for state and federal loan repayment programs.
The mission of The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR) is to promote an integrated system of services that implements the core values of resilience, self-determination, and self-regulation. All services are provided in a safe and therapeutic environment that promotes positive change and rehabilitation of the resident. VCBR is a national leader in the treatment and rehabilitation of sexually violent predators.
VCBR is actively recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor. The Mental Health Counselor is to provide the full array of treatment services including but not limited to individual therapy, group therapy, assessment of residents, treatment planning, discharge planning, case management and being a member of the treatment team. The selected candidate should have knowledge of principles, practices, services and techniques of counseling, preferably with civilly committed SVP population; knowledge and ability to provide case management and coordinate resources for residents; ability to assess progress toward treatment goals; ability and skills in providing individual and group educational/supportive/insight/cognitive/behavioral counseling; ability to, in conjunction with interdisciplinary teams, develop goals and implement treatment plans; knowledge, skills and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school or university with a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Virginia licensure as LCSW, professional counselor, or psychologist.
Experience working with inpatient or residential mental health population.
Experience working with forensic mental health population.
