It’s a place of opportunity, where your success is supported and your career can thrive. VCU offers employees a generous leave package, career paths for advancement, competitive pay, and an opportunity to do mission-driven work.

VCU’s School of Education (SOE) seeks New Teacher Mentors in the Schaberg New Teacher Support Program (NTSP). NTSP is a structured induction program operated through VCU’s School of Education in partnership with Richmond Public Schools. NTSP provides VCU teacher education alumni with up to three years of individualized mentoring and professional support designed to strengthen instructional practice, promote teacher well-being, and increase teacher retention.

NTSP mentors work within a framework grounded in these core principles: building strong, trusting partnerships; providing responsive, practice-based support; cultivating teacher leadership and professional agency; and engaging actively in the NTSP professional community. This is a hybrid position. Mentors meet with mentees virtually and in person, conduct classroom observations in both settings, and collaborate with school and district leaders as needed.

• Documenting mentoring activity through NTSP’s reporting systems.
