Lead high‑acuity, mission‑driven ambulatory programs at a nationally recognized academic health system.

Experienced nurse leaders understand that ambulatory specialty care has become one of the most complex and strategically important areas in modern healthcare. At UVA Health, this Nurse Manager role offers the opportunity to lead our Allergy and Pulmonary clinics delivering advanced Allergy and Pulmonary care within a collaborative academic environment where leadership credibility, operational judgment, and clinical excellence matter every day.

This role is purpose‑built for a seasoned nurse leader who brings depth of experience, confidence partnering with physicians, and the ability to lead teams through competing priorities while sustaining quality, access, and accreditation readiness.

The Role

As Nurse Manager, you will provide formal nursing leadership across multiple ambulatory specialty clinics, including Allergy and Pulmonary services. These clinics care for patients with conditions ranging from common diagnoses to highly complex, chronic, and immunocompromised populations, requiring thoughtful coordination, operational discipline, and strong interdisciplinary relationships.

In this role, an average day includes:

  • Leading experienced nursing and support teams in fast‑paced ambulatory specialty settings
  • Providing direct people leadership, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and professional development
  • Overseeing multi‑clinic operations, staffing models, and resource allocation in a constrained environment
  • Partnering closely with physicians and advanced practice providers to balance access, quality, and competing clinical priorities
  • Supporting accredited and regulatory‑driven programs, ensuring sustained readiness and compliance
  • Navigating conflict and complex interpersonal dynamics with professionalism and emotional intelligence
  • Driving process improvement initiatives that enhance patient experience, team efficiency, and care coordination

Success requires prior nurse management experience, strong ambulatory expertise, and the ability to lead with authority and collaboration in complex clinical environments.

Care is supported by specialized programs and advanced diagnostics, with a focus on personalized treatment plans and coordinated care across disciplines, within a division actively engaged in research and clinical training.

  • Highly accredited Pulmonary programs
The Pulmonary Clinic includes multiple nationally accredited programs, including Joint Commission‑accredited services supporting patients with cystic fibrosis, COPD, and other advanced pulmonary conditions. These programs are supported by a stable, experienced provider group and strong leadership infrastructure.
  • Academic medicine with operational impact
As part of an integrated academic health system, nurse leaders collaborate closely with faculty physicians, trainees, and interdisciplinary teams, influencing both daily operations and long‑term program sustainability.
  • Strong nursing culture
UVA Health nurses practice within a Magnet‑recognized environment supported by shared governance, clinical career ladders, and a robust quality improvement framework. Nurse leaders are empowered to lead change rather than simply maintain operations.
  • Strategic leadership role
