Job Description:
Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates In transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.

Paul D. Camp Community College’s Nursing and Allied Health Department is seeking a Nursing Adjunct for Simulation and Skills Lab. Duties include the following: Facilitates lab resources, including patient simulation equipment and supplies. Supports students and professionals to achieve clinical learning in simulated patient care environment. Provides pre and post briefing sessions with each simulation experience. Prepares and maintains labs and simulated patient care environments with equipment, supplies, media, computers, and materials needed to replicate virtual healthcare setting. Collaborates with Course Coordinators and faculty to ensure preparation of lab supplies and equipment based on faculty requests, course schedule, and accurate content. Assists in developing and implementing detailed clinically- based scenarios for the computerized simulators; operates and maintains computerized simulation equipment. Participates in planning and scheduling for students and faculty by ensuring open lab and structured lab utilization times are available and communicated and appropriately resourced. Participates in curriculum development and revisions for the nursing programs. Participates in reviewing the Systematic Plan of Evaluation. Coordinates and supervises students to ensure that lab experiences meet course objectives; provides individual oversight to students for practice and/or remediation on technical skills as requested by faculty and students. Collaborates with the coordinator on ordering and maintaining inventory of all lab supplies, equipment, furniture, models, AV equipment, and laboratory manuals; recommends purchase of lab equipment and supplies; and maintains a clean, fully equipped nursing skills and simulations lab. Facilitates simulation equipment care and maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair as required. Contributes to and attends local and national lab and simulation forums and conferences as appropriate and within the budget constraints, to prepare and assess lab and simulation operational effectiveness. Completes work in a timely manner, including preparing, documenting, and tracking student and faculty lab utilization. Serves as role model for faculty, staff, and students in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, attendance, and general professionalism. Collaborate with faculty, staff and students in a diverse and collegial organizational culture with high standards for performance. Treats the lab as an extension of the hospital environment. Supports all clinical learning lab and simulated patient care learning experiences for PDCCC campuses, while assisting faculty and students with appropriate resources to successfully complete evidence-based learning opportunities in simulated patient care environment. Supports faculty and college leadership with initiatives involving clinical simulation research and effective teaching strategies, in a simulated patient care environment. Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of national lab standards through best practice sharing and regular communications with faculty and students. Supports the mission and philosophy of the College and represents the College to clinical agencies, students, and the community through lab and simulation scheduling and collaborative efforts. Reports to the Simulation and Sills Lab Coordinator and the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with current CPR and unencumbered RN license. Must have 3 years’ strong clinical experience in acute patient care and/or emergency or trauma conditions and excellent knowledge and understanding of human pathophysiology. The individual should be a motivated team player with the desire to share creative solutions and best practices. Proficient working knowledge of internet applications and PC-based software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, SIS, EAB Navigate, etc.). Valid driver’s license and use of a personal automobile. Some evening and weekend hours. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

BLS CPR instructor certification with ACLS and PALS certification strongly encouraged. Experience with patient simulators and audio/visual and knowledge of case scenarios using simulation software. Overnight travel may be required for attendance at conferences and/or training. Master’s degree in nursing education preferred.
